Sliem

Sliem is a Maltese word meaning peace, wellbeing and comfort. The town of Sliema in Malta derives its name from this word, as applied in the Maltese prayer "Sliem Għalik Marija" (Eng. Peace be upon you Mary).
The Hebrew שלום shalom, the Arabic سلام salām, the Maltese sliem, the Amharic selam ("peace") as well as the extinct Phoenician salem are cognates, derived from Proto-Semitic *šalām-.
The Arabic and Hebrew greetings As-Salamu Alaykum (السلام عليكم) and Shalom aleichem (שָׁלוֹם עֲלֵיכֶם) correspond with the Maltese expression, Sliem għalikom.
